Reflections & Resolutions

With the holiday season coming to an end, I have realized a few important things & established a few new goals for 2015.

I have learned:
  • To value the little moments.
  • To take more pictures to remember those moments.
  • To take stressful situations & break them into simpler steps to solve.
  • That family & friends are immeasurably valuable.

My goals for 2015:
  • (The classic one) To eat healthier & exercise. Here's that trick, I'm not setting this goal with a specific weight limit to lose or value to hit, but rather with the goal of simply feeling more energetic, healthier & all around bettering myself.
  • To stay organized consistently. I love schedules, planners and organized rooms, but one thing thrown on the floor seems to spiral into a messy room that doesn't get cleaned for weeks. This year I hope to put things in their place right after I used them to avoid the spiral of disorganization.
  • To be kind & understanding. I want to love others and listen to them more. I try and do this every year & sometimes it is not an easy task, but each year I make it a goal.
  • To write more blog posts & upload more YouTube videos. This blog is such a passion and love of mine & I want to create more content that is interesting, fun and quality to post for you guys to read! I also love filming, editing and creating videos! I plan to upload more regularly and test my creativity on both of these platforms.
  • To read more. I love literature, especially poetry, but sometimes I can't seem to find the time to read. This year I hope to read more, so that I can not only dive into an amazing book, but so I can spend more time thinking, writing and dreaming.
The New Year is a time that I think is valuable. It is a chance to revamp your life, reflect on what happened in the past years and use what you learned to improve the upcoming year. 2015 is an opportunity to become a "you" who makes you inspired.

So keep dreaming, keep loving & stay postive.

Zoella Beauty!!

As soon as I heard Zoe was releasing beauty products I couldn't have been more excited. I have seen many adorable pictures from the launch and read amazing reviews of the products, so I had to get my hands on the products and try them for myself!

I bought the Beauty Fizz Bar, Soak Opera Bath Soak & Shower Cream, and the Guinea Pig Beauty Bag! (I still want the candle and the perfume... in due time)

The scent is fresh & floral and the packaging is simply adorable! I cannot wait to have a super-bubbly bath & unwind for the day!

It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year!

Today is December 1st. This means many things...

1. It is Christmas season again!
2. ABC Family's 25 days of Christmas movies begin today!
3. I am justified in singing Christmas Songs and buying presents all month long!
4. It's time for hot chocolate, Christmas lights, family time, cozy nights by the fire and Christmas baking!

If you celebrate Christmas, are you as excited as I am?!

Today's post is a bit of inspiration for Christmas room decor! I may have had my decorations up for a few weeks now (I know, I know, but how could I refuse the lights and glitter?!). Anyway, I hope it gives you a bit of inspiration for your own home!

P.S - "Where are you Christmas" is playing as I write this post, simultaneously making me more excited for the holiday season!

Life: Applesauce Day

One of my favorite Fall traditions is called Applesauce Day. My grandma, cousins, and I make applesauce from scratch all day. This year the weather was chilly and the air was crisp -- definition of a perfect Fall day.

While the recipe is a family secret, the process of making the applesauce is quite interesting. We slice the apples and boil them to a mush. The we place them in a nifty machine that separates the good applesauce from the peels. My cousins and I are able to spice each bowl to taste & replicate grandma's recipe perfectly!

Then we put it in containers & freeze it so that it will last until the next Fall! YUM!

 Spicin' it up!!

Beauty: Urban Decay Naked Basics 2 Palette

A faithful palette of mine has been the Urban Decay Naked Basics. It has six shadows, five of which are matte and one is shimmer. As the name implies they are are all warm, neutral colors. This palette is well loved and I use it every single day, whether it is for my eyebrows (for which I mix the colors "Naked 2" and "Faint"), an everyday eye look, or the perfect brow-bone highlight ("w.o.s") I adore this palette.

This having been said, you can probably imagine my excitement when I discovered there was a new Naked Basics 2 palette!! As soon as I got my hands on it, I realized we were meant for each other.

Too dramatic? Maybe. But for me, this palette is a new everyday staple & it couldn't have come at a better season.

I often switch between using warm and cool tones on my eyes, but this season I can confidently say I am loving this palette. The neutral, cool tones seem to compliment my skin tone and bring out the blue-green color of my eyes (something I LOVE in an eye shadow).

This palette, like the first, has six neutral shades, containing five matte colors and one shimmer. The colors are perfect for an everyday eye look, evening look or a brow bone highlight. The shadows are smooth, blend well and layer easily (as with most Urban Decays Naked Shadows). I find myself reaching for this to create an I-put-effort-into-my-makeup look out of only two shadows - a look that takes less than five minutes on those sleepy school mornings.

I have a favorite color within the palette that I will likely hit pan on well before the others. The color "cover" is darling. It is a light-medium brown shade that stands apart from the rest with a slight red undertone. I apply this color across the entirety of my lid (with no cream shadow as a base...this is revolutionary for me and speaks wonders to the shadow.) Instantly, I see a difference in my eye color as the undertone of red brings out the blue-green in my eyes, try it out for yourself and see if you notice the same thing. I usually blend a bit of "frisk" in my crease, add a liquid liner, highlight my brow bone and voila my eyes are done.

Here's the shadow combination below:

If you have the chance to experiment with this palette yourself, I would highly recommend it!

Friday Finds: Bite Beauty

I recently discovered a new brand that I have fallen in love with:

Bite Beauty
This brand focuses on making natural lip products and because of that, truly know what they're doing. Their lipsticks and lip glosses are creamy, moisturizing and glide on the lips smoothly. The range of colors and diversity of their products are incredible.

I recently purchased a lipstick from them and am excited to try many other items from their brand. As you may know, I am slightly obsessed with neutral-colored lip products a.k.a "your lips but better" colors and "Restina" from Bite beauty did not disappoint.

The packaging is sleek and fairly compact, however it is important to note that you do not receive as much product as desired when you fully extend the lipstick, but the lasting power and formula of it makes it worth the higher price.

The formula is smooth and moisturizing. The color stays on your lips for quite a while and there are endless combinations of pencils and glosses that pair well with this specific lipstick.

Here is a lip combination I have been loving that incorporates this lipstick!

Pencil: Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Lip Pencil "Naked"
Gloss: Sephora

I also spent a few of my Sephora Beauty Insider Points to receive these adorable mini samples of two eye creams that I have been wanting to try. The Origins Ginzing Eye Cream and Benefit's "It's Potent" eye cream. So far I have really enjoyed both of them. I use the Origins cream in the morning  because it is lighter and applies smoother & I use Benefit's in the evening because it applies thicker and creamier. I love thick eye creams for the evening because I feel like the beneficial properties will have optimal time to sink in & work their magic while I sleep.

Words of Advice: These lipsticks will melt, I would avoid leaving it in a hot car for hours, you may be very sad to return to a misshapen lipstick. (oops.)

Video: Autumn Candle Haul

If you read my last post, then you know that I am obsessed with Autumn! It just makes me so terribly happy that I just want to share it with you...and pretty much everyone! I recently bought A LOT of candles from Bath & Body Works and I put together a little video to show you what I got!

Bath & Body Works' candles are my all time favorite. They burn evenly, come in adorable packaging, have an incredibly diverse array of scents, and most importantly, their scent fills an entire room and lasts! I can light one of their candles for a couple of hours and I will still be able to smell the lovely scent in my room the next day - incredible!

Here's a few snaps of the candles I bought, if you want to see the rest of them, check out my new video:

Beauty: Batiste Dry Shampoo

Now that school is back in session, this beauty product is a must have for me! We often hear that washing our hair every day is not healthy, as it strips the natural oils from your hair. I must admit, my hair is truly a "dirty blonde" color and it only takes one day after a fresh wash for it to look oily again.

BUT, there is a solution: Dry Shampoo!

One of my absolute favorite dry shampoos is made by Batiste. It comes in all sorts of scents & gives you the option of catering to blonde or brunette hair. I usually opt for the floral or cherry scent for all hair types.

It comes out white when first applied to your hair, but once I spray the product I let it sit for a few seconds, and then quickly massage it into the roots of my hair. Then, voila, my hair looks good as new. Sometimes, I flip my hair in a few different parts and add the product throughout.

This has been a game changer for my daily routine. My hair is able to stay healthy with less washes a week & I am able to not look like I just rolled out of bed when getting ready for the day. Win - Win.
